“That S*cks” – Kevin Harvick Reveals the Brutal Way He Found Out His JR Motorsports Exit

Kevin Harvick has had a long career in NASCAR since 1995. During his tenure, the Stewart-Haas Racing driver has raced for a number of teams across all three classes. In the Xfinity Series, he raced for Dale Earnhardt Jr’s JR Motorsports team from 2014 until 2016. In a recent conversation with Dale Jr’s podcast, Harvick spoke about the circumstances behind his JR Motorsports exit.

He said, “I didn’t want to burn any bridges. Here’s how I found out, I found out they took my team, off of Twitter. You see, that sucks. Nobody ever told me and he called and tried to fix it. I’m like, ‘Hey man, it’s all good. We’ll get through it and we’ll move on with it’. Everything happened and I never even knew about it. For me it was really just about trying to end it as gracefully as possible.

What lies in the future for Kevin Harvick?

Without a doubt, the exit was devastating for the driver. Fortunately, the Stewart-Haas Racing team was more than willing to take him in. It was a bit of a shame, as Harvick had brought six wins for the team in the Xfinity Series. Since his departure, he notched up his last win in 2018 for the Stewart-Haas Racing team.

Now, Harvick is still racing with Stewart-Haas, though he is competing in the Cup Series. He has been with the Cup Series outfit since 2014, winning his one and only title in the same year. Beyond that, he has finished in the Top 10 in the championship in every season. In fact, he largely stuck to the Top 5, apart from the 2016 season where he finished the year in 8th place.

In the recently concluded season, Harvick endured one of his worst seasons, going winless for the entire season. This was a far cry from last year, when he amassed nine wins. Fortunately for him, 2022 is a brand new slate and a chance to redeem himself. For that, he will need to adapt to the Next Gen cars, quickly.
