“Couldn’t Have Done It”: Serena Williams Credits Family for the Success of Venus and Herself

King Richard, the recently released movie starring Will Smith as Richard Williams, the father of Venus and Serena Williams, was extremely successful in not just showing the struggles of the Williams household but also portray the story of Richard in the rightful manner, just like his two daughters wanted.

Serena Williams talks about family support and parenting in recent Forbes interview

In a recent interview to Forbes, the 23-time Grand Slam champion talked about the importance of having the support of family to achieve success in any profession.

Sometimes it takes a family. When you don’t have a family, a family can be replaced with friends and people that believe in you. It’s important to have a system like that. We couldn’t have done it without ours”.

As fierce a competitor that she is on-court, Serena is a doting mother to daughter Olympia. They have already become the Internet’s favorite mother-daughter duo through Serena’s frequent posts with her daughter.

Serena looks to bounce back stronger on WTA tour next year

Coming to Serena’s run at the WTA tour this year, she had gotten off to a great start by reaching the semi-finals at the Australian Open, where she lost to eventual champion Naomi Osaka. It was her only best performance of the Grand Slam season.

At Roland Garros, the American was defeated in the fourth round by Elena Rybakina. With fans anticipating Wimbledon to be the right tournament for Serena to capture the 24th major title, expectations were riding high on her.

Unfortunately, Serena had an unfortunate slip on the Center Court during her opening round match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich and was forced to retire from the tournament. Since then, she didn’t play any other events and is now currently in recovery from a torn hamstring.

The former world no.1 is expected to stage a comeback at the Australian tennis summer in January next year.
