I’m an ex TK Maxx worker, there’s a reason we say the price ‘doesn’t appear’ to be right… plus a way to bag bargains

TIKTOK’S great – not only for different hacks and funny videos to get you through the week but also for ”Ex-employee” stories.

We’ve learnt about how to get full-size freebies from Lush and about the secrets Pandora doesn’t want you to know and now there’s also an ex-employee sharing everything he learnt whilst working at TK Maxx.

Dale O’Keeffe used to work at the department store chain a few years ago and has now spilled all the details.

”All items have a six week ‘sell by date’,” revealed the TikToker, who now is passionate about making wooden furniture, which means that once the six week period is over these goods go into clearance.

”That’s why you can’t get the same products for the full price as you can in clearance,” he explained.

Unless you haven’t noticed already, the store doesn’t have any testers for make-up products.

”If it’s been opened, at the end of the day it goes in the bin!

”And that’s for hygiene reasons!”

Dale also said the employees ”absolutely know when you’re trying to con us by switching tickets”.

So the next time the cashier says: ”Oh, that doesn’t appear to be the right price?”, know you’ve been caught.

All the prices have been uploaded onto a system and swapping the stickers won’t save you a few pounds.

On the topic of stealing, he also added that whenever a store employee approaches you with: ”Do you need any help with that?” that’s most likely because they think you’re about to steal.

”Or that you’re doing something dodgy so they’re keeping an eye on you.”

Working in retail can sometimes be unpleasant – to say the least – so if you’re rude to an employee but then need some help with the price match, they’ll be more likely to give you the higher price.

And ”bonus” tip from him – don’t buy a damaged box as a present and then attempt to ask for some money off.

”Wow, you must be such a bad friend or a family member than you’re going to give somebody something that’s broken!”

”Omg…I’m offended,” one wrote.

”I thought they were being polite when the sales assistant asked if they could help.”

Someone else added: ”I always get the ”do you need any help” I must look too poor to shop at TK!”

A fellow retail employee commented: ”One thing I’ve learnt from retail, if you think someone’s stealing simply offer them the best customer service you can.

”They HATE it!”

Plus, an ex-employee reveals all the secrets about working at Tesco.

And what it’s like being a Primark employee –”People handed me their dirty underwear in the changing room & one worker was given poo in a bag.”

Meanwhile, a SUPERMARKET worker has revealed the things that shoppers do she says all staff find really annoying.
