Little Mix’s most iconic moments from chart-topping success to winning Brit Award as they announce hiatus after 10 years

What a decade it has been for these superstars (Picture: PA)

Little Mix have become one of the biggest selling girl groups to emerge from the UK, however as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, or in this case a hiatus.

The girl band, which consists of Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, and former member Jesy Nelson have come a long way since their X Factor days.

However, six studio albums, 32 singles, and seven sold-out tours later, the girls have decided it’s time for a well-deserved break, after 10 years together.

But, Mixers can breathe, as the trio insisted that this is not goodbye, it’s see you soon.

Here’s a look back at some of their iconic moments.

The first band to win the X Factor

It’s only right we journey right back to the start!

Remember the time when our beloved Little Mix was originally named Rhythmix? It feels like forever ago.

The girls initially auditioned for the X Factor as solo artists back in 2011, however, after the success of One Direction, the programme recycled the previous formula of forming a supergroup – which ultimately worked in their favour.

Singer Tulisa Constavolos led the girls to victory as they became the first band to win the series.

And, well the rest was history.

Brit Awards 2017

Who knew a song dedicated to former lovers would lead to this glorious moment.

The girls won their first-ever Brit award, after missing out from the previous year, despite being nominated twice.

Shout Out to My Ex won the best British single award at the annual music event. Squealing with excitement the band revealed on stage: ‘We didn’t think we were going to get it, cheers to our exes … this is for you lads.’

Little Mix have seen huge chart success over the years, starting with their debut single in 2011, Cannonball, a cover of Damien Rice’s song.

From then on, their hits Wings, Black Magic, Shout Out To My Ex, and Sweet Melody also smashed it at the top spot.

Jesy Nelson’s departure

Fans were devastated when Jesy left the girl group in December last year, but were proud she made the tough decision to focus on her mental health.

In her post, she wrote: ‘To all my Mixers, The past nine years in Little Mix has been the most incredible time of my life.

‘The truth is recently being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health. I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard,’ she continued.

‘There comes a time in life when we need to reinvest in taking care of ourselves rather than focussing on making other people happy, and I feel like now is the time to begin that process.’

However, shortly after, the star teased fans online with pictures of her in the studio, which led people to believe she was working on solo material, which was correct.

Jesy’s highly-anticipated single Boyz featuring US rapper Nicki Minaj was released in October, and the music video also stars record executive P Diddy.

Fans were worried how the band would recover after Jesy confirmed her departure, but cue in the 2021 Brit Awards.

This year’s award ceremony was a big moment for the girls as they won Best British Group.

As they accepted the gong, the golden trio reeled off a list of names of people they wanted to thank and started with Jesy.

‘We have been together 10 years. It’s been the best years of our lives, we have gone through so much. We’ve had so much fun, made so many beautiful memories.

‘We want to start by thanking our incredible fans, of course, Jesy and our amazing team.’

This also marked Leigh-Anne and Perrie’s first public appearance after confirming their pregnancies.

Motherhood

Leigh-Anne shared the joyful news with her Instagram followers with a stunning photo shoot of her cradling her baby bump, a year after announcing she and Andre were engaged.

The biggest coincidence happened a couple of days later when Perrie herself confirmed that she was expecting her own bundle of joy with partner Alex Oxlade- Chamberlain.

The singer uploaded a black and white snap which saw the footballer, in a white T-shirt, with his hands around Perrie’s waist, as the singer closed her eyes and smiled.

Bandmate Jade commented on the sweet news writing: ‘Beaming for you both ♥️ I’m the luckiest auntie in the world! Love youuuuu x’.

Perrie gave birth to her beautiful baby boy Axel in August, and Leigh-Anne welcomed her twins in the same month.
