Warning: spoilers ahead up to and including Money Heist season 5 part 1.
The release date for the final episodes of Money Heist is here, as fans prepare to say goodbye to the gang in season 5 part 2 on Netflix.
La Casa De Papel has been nothing short of a phenomenon over the past few years, taking viewers on an explosive journey with twists and turns around every corner.
The new episodes will mark the epic conclusion of the tale, as the Professor (Álvaro Morte) tries to do everything in his power to help his comrades not only pull off their heist at the Bank of Spain, but do so with as many survivors as possible.
It may have only been three months since the most recent batch of episodes was launched, but some might need a refresher of how the story concluded ahead of the finale.
So what happened at the end of Money Heist season 5 part 1?
Tragedy strikes Tokyo
Season five part one of Money Heist ends with a huge tragedy, as one of the most significant characters from the beginning of the Spanish crime drama is killed.

Throughout the show, Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó) has been through hardship, joy and adventure with her friends, with her arc ending by sacrificing herself while fighting against military forces in the bank.
Having escaped the bank as a hostage, Gandía (José Manuel Poga), who is head of security at the bank, re-enters the building with an elite military force.
While hiding out in the kitchen with Denver (Jaime Lorente) and Manila (Belén Cuesta), Tokyo is shot multiple times in her arms and legs.
Despite protestations from Denver and pleas from her lover Rio (Miguel Herrán) to save herself, Tokyo decides instead to strap multiple grenades to her body, setting them off as Gandía and the soldiers approach her.
While Tokyo is the latest casualty in Money Heist, she is still going to be a part of the final episodes, as confirmed in the trailer.
The Professor and Sierra face off
Earlier in season five part one, disgraced police officer Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) managed to find the Professor’s secret hideout, torturing the mastermind of the heist before going into labour.

While she initially tries to deliver her baby herself, she eventually decides to accept the Professor’s offer of help, as he safely helps to bring her newborn daughter into the world.
Despite having just given birth, it’s apparent that Sierra always has something up her sleeve, so the Professor would be wise to still hold her at arm’s length.
Helsinki is in dire straits
Elsewhere in the bank, Helsinki (Darko Perić) is in utter agony after his leg was crushed by a marble column.

With the military continuing to close in on them, it’s uncertain whether Palermo (Rodrigo de la Serna) will be able to help Helsinki get out of this excruciating situation.
Money Heist season five part one ended on multiple massive cliffhangers, and now we’re finally going to find out how the captivating story has been drawn to a close.
Money Heist is available to watch on Netflix.
