‘That’s Love’: Trae Young Reacts to Receiving a Vote in New York City’s Mayoral Election

One of the biggest storylines last season was the rivalry between the New York Knicks fans and Trae Young. The Atlanta Hawks superstar completely destroyed the Knicks’ chances of going deep into the playoffs in an intense five-game series. Since then, he has been the focus of many memes but there still seems to be one person in New York that can clearly be deemed as his supporter.

Surprise, surprise! Trae Young got one vote in the mayoral election in New York. He is amongst the many other athletes that received a write-in vote, like Knicks star Julius Randle, New York Yankees’ Aaron Judge, Aaron Hicks, and Brett Gardner, and even Mets’ Jacob deGrom and Pete Alonso.

The Atlanta Hawks superstar showed his appreciation for the support by posting on Twitter. He wrote, “That’s Love NY for real… Never got a mayor vote!”

This newfound love is very new to fans. Before this, Trae was using all the hatred displayed towards him at Madison Square Garden, to motivate himself into defeating them. Clearly, it did wonders for him. He averaged a whopping 29.2 points and 9.8 assists against the Knicks. It’s good to know that there is at least one New Yorker who doesn’t hold a grudge against the humiliation Trae put the Knicks through.

Will Trae Young vs Knicks saga continue this season?

The 23-year-old is yet to pay a visit to MSG since the postseason. However, just last week, the Knicks were able to defeat the Hawks but the latter has a better record in the Eastern Conference at the moment.

The two teams are set to meet each other once again on Christmas Day and Trae will be looking to avenge their recent loss against them. It’ll be very exciting to see what transpires between the two.
