‘Michael Jordan Played With the Flu’: Cowboys’ Amari Cooper Makes Ridiculous Statement About NFL COVID Protocols

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper missed some crucial games after testing positive for COVID-19. After being sidelined against the Chiefs and the Raiders, the wideout returned against the Saints during the Thursday night matchup.

Later, Cooper revealed that he might not have fully recovered from COVID. He might have played through it. However, Cooper showed no signs or symptoms for it. Furthermore, he referred to the popular Michael Jordan’s flu game, to raise a point of concern to the NFL.

Amari Cooper has an absurd point to make

“It was tough,” Cooper told reporters. “[Michael] Jordan played with the flu. That’s how I looked at it. It was a restriction of not being able to play with what I had. It was tough, knowing that I could physically gone out there and played, but the restrictions didn’t allow me to do so.”

A vaccinated Amari Cooper might have still gotten COVID-19. But there is a better chance he wouldn’t have been in danger of missing 3 games.

However, according to the current protocols developed by the NFL and the NFLPA, the restrictions don’t allow an unvaccinated player who has tested positive to leave the premises for the period of at least 10 days. And concerning the current protocols, Cooper had a question to ask. His concern was to know if the NFL will ever allow asymptomatic players to engage in regular activities after testing positive.

When will the NFL ease on the protocols?

It is a pretty absurd point made by the receiver, given that the virus gets transmitted easily indoors. According to the NFL, spreading the virus in an open environment or a dome with advanced ventilation is exceedingly difficult, if not impossible.

And so with that point in mind, players have played through cold, through flu because the rules don’t prohibit them from doing so. So when will the NFL look through COVID protocols with a similar point of view?

According to a league source, the emphasis should be on medicines rather than vaccines. He believes that a tablet that might be administered to cure the virus could dramatically slow the spread of the condition. And it is at this point the league will become less cautious about allowing sick individuals to participate in operations.
