Stephen Curry’s Wife Ayesha on Early Days of Relationship: “It Was Friend Vibes Until I Dodged His First Kiss”

Stephen Curry has never been rejected or denied in court, but he was rejected in his real life. Parents Magazine had published an interview in 2016 featuring the NBA superstar and his wife, Ayesha Curry.

In the interview, Curry was candid about how he had a difficult time in asking Ayesha out.

Stephen Curry: “Yep. I struck out.”

It was described as a phenomenally awkward first kiss by the couple. Since they were in the same youth group at church, they were already familiar with one another at college. In fact, Ayesha wasn’t allowed to date anyone in high school, so she avoided Stephen’s attempts at a kiss.

I mean, it was friend vibes … until I dodged his first kiss,” Ayesha explained. “He was in mid-conversation and came flying at my face like a thief in the night. So I was like, No. Then I thought, ‘Oh, I didn’t know this is what was happening.’”

When Stephen talked about the engagement in the interview, he said that he wanted it to be special and memorable. He, therefore, planned their engagement at the same place where they had first kissed.

He told “Yeah, it was like The Notebook. The plan was to act like we were going to a family cookout. So we pulled up to the house, and I stopped in the middle of the driveway, got down on my knee, and went into my spiel. Little did I know the whole family was looking out the window, videotaping the moment.”

The couple got married in 2011. They have been blessed with three beautiful children: Riley Elizabeth, Canon W. Jack, and Ryan Carson Curry.

Initially, it was tough for Stephen to like someone who wasn’t allowed to date at that time. This led to a difficult situation. Eventually, they reconciled.
