Strictly 2021: Johannes Radebe mortified after lift with John Whaite goes wrong and he hits the ground with a thud
They laughed it off! (Picture: BBC)
Strictly Come Dancing is in its quarter finals, and John Whaite and Johannes Radebe pulled out a dazzling performance to We Are Family.
The couple brought the party with their salsa tonight, but pro dancer Johannes was left mortified at the end when their big lift at the end went wrong.
As the pair walked over to the judges to collect their scores, Johannes could be heard apologising to baker John.
When Tess asked why he was saying sorry, he replied in a sad tone: ‘I gave him the wrong hand!’
It seemed he was referring to the couple’s lift for their big finish, where John threw his partner in the air and spun around in a circle.
However, things went a bit pear shaped, leaving John with no choice but to throw Johannes down onto the floor at the end because of the way he picked him up.

After his other half hit the ground with a thud, John smacked Johannes’ bottom in jest.
The mistake didn’t dampen their spirits, though, as they finished the performance with beaming smiles and had their fellow contestants and their partners on their feet, clapping and cheering.
They also pulled out plenty of other show-stopping lifts with impeccable fast-paced choreography.

John and Johannes joked with Claudia Winkleman afterwards that they started the week with alter egos BeJohncé and Jakira, before realising that they didn’t need character names.
‘I am John and I can do that,’ he said proudly.
The judges loved their sparkling performance too, with even Mr Nasty Craig Revel Horwood in fits of laughter saying: ‘I love it when it goes wrong!’

The duo scored 32 points, with a 7 from Craig, 8s from Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas, and a 9 from Anton du Beke.
They’ll be hoping they’ve done enough to continue living out their dream and head through to the semi final next week.
Strictly Come Dancing: The Results air tomorrow night on BBC One.
