WATCH: Max Verstappen’s Father Jos Slams the Desk in Disbelief After Jeddah F1 Qualifying
The moment Max Verstappen crashed into the wall of the last corner of the Jeddah circuit; one corner away from what could have been a pole position. It was a heart-wrenching moment for anyone watching. Not only for the driver, who defeatedly got out of his car but also his father, who looked on painfully.
With a lot of annoyance in him, Jos Verstappen slammed the table ahead of him as his son threw away a start at the top. With a pole position within reach, Jos’ frustrations were felt by all.

However. it didn’t compare to the frustrations of the man in the car. With Lewis on provisional pole, all eyes were on Verstappen. The Dutchman set impressive purple sectors all around, putting his rival’s time at risk. But soon, one corner shy of glory, Verstappen lost it all.
Max Verstappen reflects on his terrible moment
The crash damaged Verstappen’s gearbox, which would prove hectic to the team. Further, P3 is not something he would have wanted; especially when P1 was in play.

Verstappen shared his feelings post-quali. “It’s of course, terrible. I knew the pace was there, and it showed in the last lap. I don’t understand what happened but I locked up. I tried to keep the car on the track to finish the lap, and I clipped the rear – so I had to stop.”

Knowing the power the RB16 had, Verstappen knew the P3 wasn’t deserved. “P3 is a bit disappointing knowing the lap I was on but it shows that the car is quick. Let’s see where we can do in the race.”

However, despite the bad luck, Red Bull was confident in their driver. Christian Horner said, “Max will be frustrated. He knows what a good lap it was. He just needs to put it behind him now. He’s still P3 on the grid. He needs a good start and anything can happen in this race.”
Now, Verstappen has an important race ahead. His eight-point lead is under massive threat by Lewis Hamilton. Hopefully, the damage isn’t too much for the car, which can still finish on the top step of the rostrum.
