Detroit Lions Win Hearts Off the Field; Pay Tribute to Oxford High Shooting Victim in Classy Manner
The Detroit Lions have simply been abysmal this season. The NFC North team has the worst record in the NFL this season. In the 11 matches played, the Lions have failed to win a single game.
While they haven’t been serene on-field, their off-field conduct has been classy, to say the least. Their recent gesture for the Oxford school shooting victim proves it.
Jalen Elliott pays tribute to football player killed in Michigan school shooting
Jalen Elliott of the Detroit Lions found a unique way to honour Tate Myre, one of the four young kids slain in last week’s shooting at Oxford High School in Michigan. As the Detroit Lions Safety arrived at Ford Field on Sunday before the Lions’ game against the Minnesota Vikings, Elliott was spotted wearing a Lions jersey with his number — 42 — but Myre’s name on the back.
At Oxford, Myre was a sophomore football player. The number 42 was not just Elliott’s but also Myre’s. Elliott’s homage comes only one day after Michigan honoured Myre and the other three student victims by wearing special “TM 42” patches during the Big Ten title game on Saturday. Michigan won the championship by defeating Iowa, scoring 42 points in the process.

Michigan Wolverines and the Detroit Lions take special efforts to pay homage to Oxford high school shooting victims
The Michigan Wolverines and Detroit Lions took extra measures this weekend to remember the victims of the Oxford High School shooting, which occurred earlier this week in the state. In Saturday’s Big Ten championship game, the Wolverines wore a special patch. Whereas, the Lions will have a helmet decal and wear special T-shirts against the Minnesota Vikings tonight.
Michigan on Saturday wore a patch in the shape of a “Block O” to signify Oxford. The initials “TM” and the number 42 were beneath it, as a homage to those who died and the local community.

The “TM 42” is dedicated to Tate Myre. Myre is an Oxford sophomore football player who was one of the four students killed in the attack. Hana St. Juliana, a basketball and volleyball player, Madisyn Baldwin, an aspiring artist, and Justin Shilling, a member of the bowling and golf teams, are the other three victims commemorated by the four hearts on the patch.
