‘He Could Have Died’: Doctor Reveals Shocking Details From Teofimo Lopez’s Last Fight Against Kambosos Jr.

Last weekend, Teofimo Lopez took up his much-anticipated fight against George Kambosos Jr. Lopez, in this bout was a genuine favorite. But what happened in the actual fight was completely staggering. Kambosos Jr., the heavy underdog, knocked Lopez down in the first round itself, leaving everyone in awe.

Post that, the pair went all out against each other till the last bell of the bout. That said, it was Kambosos Jr. in the end, who claimed a gratifying win after much of exchange.

Things didn’t go as planned for Lopez. Moreover, it was later reported that ‘The Takeover’ had air in his chest, and he could have died while fighting. Recently, Dr. Linda Dahl opened up on this juncture while speaking to Mark Kriegel.

Dahl said, “He could have died, for sure. How he breathed, I can’t even explain to you. It’s like somebody tied a 300-pound set of weights around his chest…like his neck and chest were in a vise.” (h/t ESPN Ringside)

Lopez went for the kill from the first bell itself and he was desperate to secure a round 1 T/KO win. But, he rushed too much to eventually get caught by his rival. The exchange between the two only turned violent in the proceeding rounds and both the men threw some power-packed shots.

Also, Lopez and Kambosos Jr. looked absolutely fine taking their fight to the distance. However, no one had a slight idea of what ‘The Takeover’ was going through.

However, his body reacted to the same in a certain way, because Lopez put too much pressure on his physique after almost a year of inactivity.

Regardless of the results of this fight, Lopez was too lucky to not end up in an even more vulnerable situation. In the past, boxers have died fighting, and the sport is just not ready to see something like that happening anytime soon.
