Teofimo Lopez Shares a Disturbing Picture From the Hospital After Recent Health Update

Teofimo Lopez has shared a photo of himself from the hospital. Following his loss to George Kambosos Jr., Lopez got diagnosed with a deadly lung condition. After the news broke to the world, Lopez did not speak out about it. However, he has finally shared his thoughts about the fight, and his condition via his social media handles.

Lopez took to his Instagram to post a photo of himself with an oxygen mask on. He captioned the post, “(ONLY ATHLETES) Understand the amount of pressure we deal with on a daily basis. My health isn’t an excuse but a FACT! I almost died for people who could care less about us. All we are in the people’s image is a dollar sign. Damn if you do, Damn if you don’t! #MoreThanAnAthlete”

Lopez suffered his first professional loss at the hands of George Kambosos Jr. Teofimo Lopez and his camp expected it to be an easy fight, as ‘The Takeover’ had already made his future plans of moving up in weight known.

However, Kambosos shocked the world by outboxing Lopez over 12 rounds to secure the split decision victory.

Doctor says Teofimo Lopez is ‘lucky he’s not dead’ following his fight against George Kambosos Jr. 

Doctors that examined Lopez following his fight against George Kambosos Jr. have revealed how lucky Lopez got. ‘The Takeover’ developed “pneumomediastinum”, a condition where the chest cavity gets filled with air in places where there’s supposed to be no air.

“He could have died, for sure,” Dr. Linda Dahl told ESPN. “How he breathed, I can’t even explain to you.”

Lopez is currently undergoing treatment for his condition. His team has not released a return date, but ‘The Takeover’ looks to fight next year.
