WATCH: Enzo Fittipaldi’s Unfortunate F2 Crash With Theo Pourchaire Lands Them Both in Hospital at Jeddah F1 Circuit

The Formula2 feature race in the Jeddah Corniche circuit has stopped right on the first lap amidst a red flag situation. This is coming in a few hours before the F1 Grand Prix is scheduled to take place here. French driver Theo Pourchaire’s car stalled on the grid after the red lights went on. Enzo Fittipaldi ran into the back of the ART driver causing a huge collision.

The red flag is waved and race has been stopped following the crash. The Formula 1 cars are supposed to line up on the same track at 20:30 local time later today for the penultimate race of the season.

A huge dysfunction in Pourchaire’s car before the big F1 race

ART driver Theo Pourchaire’s car was left on halt after the lights went out in Jeddah. The car had a major dysfunction causing huge sparks and no acceleration whatsoever. However, while other drivers managed to go past the Frenchmen, Fittipaldi couldn’t manage to slide past his halted chassis number 10. The Brazilian went right into his car causing a huge crash. The Ambulance was immediately deployed on the track meanwhile the safety car escort0ed the rest of the drivers into the pits.

The latest reports suggest that Pourchaire is conscious and he is taken to the hospital. Moreover, he gave a thumbs up to the crowd from the ambulance suggesting that he is better now. Meanwhile, there are no clear inputs on Enzo Fittipaldi. According to Sky Germany, Enzo had difficulties getting out of the car himself because he was stuck. He needed help. Now he is transported to the helicopter. But most importantly he is said to be conscious.

The race is red-flagged and will not resume

The FIA has released a statement following the huge crash. The drivers were immediately attended to by emergency and medical crews. The drivers were conscious and extricated by the attending medical crews. Both have been transferred by ambulance and helicopter to hospital”

However, the race is red-flagged following another incident on the track involving Samaia and Caldwell. To the relief of the fans, they are both doing fine. Nevertheless, The F1 Grand Prix will begin at its originally scheduled time.
