WATCH: Mick Schumacher Apologizes for Swearing on the Radio at Jeddah F1 Qualifying

The Haas F1 team had it all happening during the qualifying session in Jeddah Corniche Circuit. However, the two drivers will have to start from the back of the grid on Sunday. Mick Schumacher had a comparatively strong Q3 session where he recorded the fastest lap time of  1:29:464 on softs. Nevertheless, both Haas were eliminated after Q3 along with both the Aston Martin and the Williams of Nicolas Latifi.

However, Hamilton is the polesitter in Jeddah followed by teammate Valtteri Bottas who ensured that Mercedes lock up a front-row start. Max Verstappen is sitting in third after his crash in the final sector yesterday which cost him the pole position.

Mick Schumacher was disappointed with the results

The season has been a tough one for Schumacher, he hasn’t been able to open his points tally in the season so far. However now, the German was disappointed at the end of the Q3 session as he failed to turn the DRS on which might have cost him some extra time. He was devastated with himself which can be heard on the team radio. His engineer Gary Gannon can be heard saying, “Good improvement Mick. We’re P19. Really good 3 laps with a totally different car.”

The German realized that he did not open the DRS and what furious about it with himself. “Yeah. I did not turn on the DRS. Oh F***!!!” However, he apologized for the same pretty much immediately. “Sorry For All The Swearing, I Didn’t Mean To.”

Team’s inputs after the qualifying

Haas Team principal Gunther Steiner felt the results were encouraging for the team. The two drivers got very close with the other midfield teams and it was a good sign for the team. “It was a pretty good day with a lot of running and no damage. It was solid running for all of FP3 and solid running from both in qualifying to get close to the cars in front of us, which is very encouraging for us so late in the season,” said Steiner after the session.

Mick Schumacher talked through his DRS issues and he is optimistic about the upcoming race. “I delayed the deployment of my DRS, and it’s around a tenth so it’s quite frustrating but I was not anticipating being so close to the Aston Martin so that’s something I think really shows our build-up of performance over the weekend,” remarked Schumacher.

The Haas F1 team went under the shell this year but hopefully, they will make a comeback in the upcoming season. Needless to say, they have a lot to introspect and Steiner and the team should find a way through it.
