WWE NXT War Games 2021 preview: UK start time, matches, live stream and more

Two worlds collide in the hellish structure (Picture: WWE)

Tonight, WWE presents one of the most brutal shows of the year with NXT War Games.

There’s a real changing of the guard this weekend as the company says goodbye to the TakeOver banner and the NXT 2.0 era rolls on with one of the flagship events from the brand’s past.

We’ll see old versus new, with a lineup very much in line with the new direction vision for what has been taken back to its roots as WWE’s developmental division.

It means the card, on paper, isn’t quite as exciting as previously big shows, but there’s still the chance for something special in the two signature bouts, and Beth Phoenix will make her final appearances on the commentary team.

There’s also plenty at stake, including two championship bouts and a Hair versus Hair match, so you can still expect plenty of drama.

As ever, we’ve put together our regular guide with the full match card, streaming details and more.

Here’s everything you need to know about the show…

When is WWE NXT War Games 2021?

WWE presents NXT War Games tonight (December 5) with all the action on the main card kicking off at 1am for fans in the UK.

How can you watch WWE NXT War Games 2021?

Of course, there will be a Kickoff show available on the WWE Network, WWE.com, the WWE app, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Twitch at midnight.

For fans in the UK, you can tune into the main NXT War Games show by either streaming live or watching on demand via the WWE Network.

What can you expect from WWE NXT War Games?

As we said, this is the first special event of a new era for NXT 2.0, and it really does feel like a changing of the guard as the company draws a line under TakeOver.

Typically, the company has spent months building to something epic for War Games and this year’s doesn’t quite have the same appeal, although there’s scope for the show to over-deliver.

Both War Games matches should be a tonne of fun, and it’s likely tonight marks the first coronation for Bron Breakker as Rick Steiner’s son continues his rise up the card.

Meanwhile, Team Raquel could overcome Team Dakota, even with Toxic Attraction on such a roll lately.

Roderick Strong should hold onto the Cruiserweight Title with the help of the Diamond Mine, while it feels too soon for Imperium to drop the gold, even if WWE could be tempted to give Von Wanger and Kyle O’Reilly the win in the hope the latter signs a new contract.

Finally, you’d hope Cameron Grimes will win to keep his hair in tact, but stranger things have happened – and he very much feels like a company man who’d be willing to chop off his locks for the stipulation.
