Dan Walker has hit back at Piers Morgan after his former breakfast TV rival took a swipe of the star’s exit from Strictly Come Dancing.
The BBC Breakfast star made it all the way to the quarter-finals of Strictly, but was knocked out after landing in the bottom two with presenter AJ Odudu.
While it was quite the achievement to make it so far in the contest, Piers couldn’t resist having a pop.
Dan paid tribute to his pro partner Nadiya Bychkova on Twitter, posting: ‘Well… what a ride! #Strictly has been a truly wonderful experience for me. I enjoyed every second.
‘@NadiyaBychkova is a superstar: kind, encouraging, funny, clever, the best teacher I could ever have hoped for & a great friend. Thanks for the support & thanks for having us.’
Piers, however, didn’t see reaching the quarter-finals as a triumph at all.

‘You came 5th, mate,’ he wrote back. ‘She needed a better pupil.’
Well, Dan didn’t take it lying down and ultimately when Piers famously stormed off Good Morning Britain back in march following an spat with co-star Alex Beresford, he made himself an easy target.
Sharing a clip of the moment Piers threw a strop and walked off GMB, Dan wrote: ‘Morning. I did think about walking off when @CraigRevHorwood gave me some grief in week 2 but… who does that?’
Dan and Piers’ historical feud dates back to their days throwing insults over the rivals ratings of Good Morning Britain and BBC Breakfast.

For the first time in GMB history, the ITV programme beat BBC Breakfast in the ratings on Piers’ last day.
On today’s BBC Breakfast, Dan admitted ‘the right people are in the semi-finals’, as AJ, Rose Ayling-Ellis, John Whaite and Rhys Stephenson compete this weekend for a spot in the Strictly final.
‘The best four dancers in the competition. My time had come to an end, there’s no way I could compete,’ he said.
‘But to get to the quarter-finals of Strictly having never danced before when I started is amazing and that’s all down to Nadiya, who is just brilliant.
‘I feel that it’s always been a privilege to be part of the biggest show on telly, other than BBC Breakfast of course.’
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 7.05pm on BBC One.
