Max Verstappen Nominated by British Media House BBC for Prestigious Award Last Won in F1 by Sebastian Vettel
Max Verstappen is undoubtedly having the best season in his Formula One career so far, as he is fighting Lewis Hamilton for the title. However, 2021 got even better for the Red Bull driver as he is nominated for BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year’s World Sports Star award.
The BBC hosts the event in December, celebrating the biggest British sporting achievement of the year. Max’s arch-rival, Lewis Hamilton has been the recipient of the award twice including last year, but this time it is Red Bull prodigy who has been nominated for the prestigious award.
Max Verstappen gets nominated for prestigious British award amidst title fight
The 24-year-old has been pushing himself to the limit this year, throwing everything at Britain’s Knight for a shot at the F1 title this season. And it seems like his hard work has paid off as he has been nominated for the international World Sports Star award.

Another F1 driver who has won the prestigious award is Sebastian Vettel back in 2013 when it was called Overseas Sports Personality of the Year. Along with Verstappen, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, Rachael Blackmore, Tom Brady, Novak Djokovic, and Elaine Thompson-Herah have been chosen.

The final race in Abu Dhabi will decide the title
So far this season, the Red Bull driver has pushed himself to the limit. Verstappen is locked in a heated battle with Hamilton. As it currently stands, both title contenders have tied in the driver’s standings at 369.5 points.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is this weekend and after the results of the Saudi Arabian GP, the title race has gotten even more interesting. The Red Bull prodigy is well aware that the final race of the season will be extremely difficult. Hence, he will aim to keep Hamilton’s Mercedes in his rearview mirror.
There is no doubt the Abu Dhabi GP will have the entire world watching. Max will throw everything at Lewis, as soon as the lights go out in Sunday’s race at the Yas Marina.
