‘My Buddy Has a Connection at the Range’- Dustin Poirier Reveals What He Did After Defeating Conor McGregor
The former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier has had a very good year in UFC. He won two of his fights this year against the same opponent Conor McGregor, who defeated Poirier in their first slugfest.
In a much-anticipated rematch, ‘The Diamond’ destroyed ‘Notorious’ by dropping heavy punches in the second round at UFC 257. Furthermore, in the blockbuster trilogy at UFC 264, Poirier secured yet another win as McGregor suffered a gruesome injury in the first round.
After a glorious year in the UFC, the former interim champion decided to take a break from fighting. However, ‘The Diamond’ did some interesting things during his leisure time.
The 32-year-old is a gun enthusiast and spent some of his time at a shooting range in Florida after his hard-earned victory. ‘The Diamond’ also gifted himself a 48- MOS pistol. In the UFC 269 countdown vlog, Poirier said, “Now I placed an order a couple of weeks ago and I am here to pick up a pistol.”

“My buddy has a connection at the range. We are going to bring some of his guns there. Shoot some fully automatic machine guns and I am also going to take my pistol out for a spin.”
Dustin Poirier Prepares for One of His Biggest UFC Fights
‘The Diamond’ is one of the best lightweights in the UFC. He has an illustrious professional career record of 28-6 under his name. The Louisiana native defeated Max Holloway to become the interim lightweight champion at UFC 236.
Unfortunately, Poirier failed to conquer the lightweight gold against Khabib Nurmagomedov in the same year. Despite the defeat, ‘The Diamond’ didn’t stop and after three straight wins, he stands at #1 position on the lightweight roster.

The number one lightweight contender has earned yet another shot at the 155lbs gold. He will now challenge the reigning champion, Charles Oliveira, at UFC 269. The title fight will headline the pay-per-view on 11 December in Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, ‘Do Bronx’ over the years has improved a lot. He is undefeated since 2018. With an amazing ground game and striking skills, Oliviera can be one of the toughest opponents of Poirier’s UFC career.
However, if ‘The Diamond’ gets through him, he will have nothing much to prove further. And will register himself in the list of the greatest lightweight combatants of all time.
