“Standards Are Unfair”: Mohamed Salah Makes Feelings Known After Ballon d’Or 2021 Snub
Mohamed Salah has magnificently turned into the best player in the Premier League in the past two years. The Egyptian forward has been scoring goals for Liverpool ever since he joined them in 2017, and has guided them to a Premier League trophy and the greatest title in club football, the UEFA Champions League.
However, many believe he deserves a lot more recognition among the best. He is yet to win the Ballon d’Or, as he finished 7th this time around. While Chelsea’s midfield duo, Jorginho, and N’golo Kante finished above him in the list, the forward’s performances warrant more than a paltry 7th.
Mohamed Salah talks about the Ballon d’Or ceremony
Salah talked about the rankings and the criteria with which the players are judged. He also added that the Ballon d’Or standards aren’t meant to harm anyone, but he feels that they are still unfair.
“The way these awards are handed out is different and they have different standards in their evaluation, and it’s not intended to harm anyone, but I feel that their standards are unfair,” Salah said.
This time, Lionel Messi won the Ballon d’Or again and made it his seventh win in the prestigious awards. He beat Robert Lewandowski to the award, igniting a lot of controversy around the results in the end.
Salah’s exceptional form this season for Liverpool
Mohamed Salah has surely been the best player in the Premier League this season, scoring one too many sensational goals, game after game. Given his current form, only Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski and Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema are up there on his level.

Salah has scored 13 goals in 15 Premier League games and has added nine assists to his tally. He has also been exceptional in the UEFA Champions League, where he has scored six goals in five games. It’ll be interesting to see his stats at the end of the season, but if he continues this form, he’ll surely have his hands on the Ballon d’Or.
