VIDEO: Boxer Repeatedly Hits Downed Opponent – Gets Slammed on Twitter

The Anthony Yarde vs Lyndon Arthur 2 fight card in London was full of surprises. From tactical game plan to sheer violence, it had everything to showcase. Meanwhile, a shocking knockout win of Hamzah Sheeraz is under a lot of scrutiny.

The undefeated super welterweight prospect faced Bradley Skeete in the undercard and scored a 9th round KO win. However, a shocking instance from round eight left the entire combat community in shock.

After falling prey to Skeete’s top-level game in the first stage of the fight, Sheeraz found his way in round eight. He cracked down Skeete with a thunderous shot and put him down. However, he didn’t stop. The 22-year-old landed two more shots while his opponent was already down. To everyone’s shock, referee Steve Gray didn’t relinquish the fight.

He paused the action before deducting a point from Sheeraz’s side. Well, Sheeraz didn’t let the decision go to the judges. While Bradley Skeete could somehow make it to round nine, Sheeraz stopped him in that round and advanced to become 16-0.

Following the fight, several people blamed the referee and accused him of poor judgment. They felt deducting a point wasn’t enough, and Hamzah Sheeraz should have been disqualified for the act. Amongst several critics, IBF flyweight champion Sunny Edwards also bashed the judgment. ‘Showtime’ Edwards took to Twitter and posted the clip where Sheeraz pulled off the controversial shots. The IBF titlist wrote, “This gets so much worst every time you watch it, f*** sake.”

Boxer Hamzah Sheeraz talks about his win over Bradey Skeete

Undefeated boxer Sheeraz struggled to dominate against Skeete and the controversial shots seemed to be his key to the win. Amid sheer criticisms, he accepted that the recent win in London wasn’t his best performance. However, he shared his views on the eighth round massacre and justified all of it.

In a chat with Boxing Social, Sheeraz said, “At the end of the day, I think everyone thinks thank, everyone said that I should have been disqualified. This, that the other. But I don’t know today. Listen, it’s boxing. I am telling you now. Most people in my position, they would have done the same thing. I didn’t know that his legs were on the floor or his hands on the floor.”

Meanwhile, the boxing community didn’t take it lightly and following the incident, there can be more involvement of the administrators. As for the referee, he can also come across some serious questions in the future.
