WWE legend Jeff Hardy ‘sent home from the road’ following live event

WWE superstar Jeff Hardy

WWE legend Jeff Hardy has reportedly been sent home after a live event on Saturday night.

The former world champion is said to have appeared ‘sluggish’ in the ring at the show in Edinburg, Texas as he teamed with Drew McIntyre and King Xavier Woods to take on The Bloodline’s Roman Reigns and The Usos.

As reported by PWInsider and coroborated by Fightful, Jeff tagged out of the match and ‘disappeared into the crowd’, where he was followed by security.

In a fan-shot video uploaded on social media, the 44-year-old star can be seen leaving the ring during the match, and not returning to celebrate with his partners after their win.

On Sunday night, Jeff was reportedly not backstage at the live event in Corpus Christi, Texas and was replaced by Rey Mysterio for the six-man tag match.

His most recent in-ring appearance on TV came on the November 26 episode of SmackDown, when he teamed with McIntyre to face Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss.

He also took part in the Black Friday Battle Royal later that night, and was the final person eliminated as Sami Zayn won to earn himself a Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns.

Zayn, after some convincing from Brock Lesnar, would take the bout on Friday’s episode and he ended up losing to Reigns after a pre-match attack by the Beast.

Hardy appeared on the December 3 episode too, as he and McIntyre were in a skit with Moss and Corbin.

Meanwhile, Jeff recently revealed he pitched an interesting story over the summer as part of a more in-depth plan to bring his beloved No More Words theme music – which he’d insisted on as part of his current contract – back on screen.

He exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘There was one idea before No More Words came back, about me going to this old psychic and kinda like down on myself, not feeling like I was good enough anymore.

‘But then she tells me a story, and ends up saying something like, “It’s time for no more words”. I did pitch that, but it never happened.

‘There’d have been a lot of cool vignettes. It didn’t work out. We got the audience back, they hit the music and it was like nothing had changed from 08, 09.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted WWE for comment.
