“Cuts and Bruises” – Fittipaldi Offers Much-Needed Update Following the Scary F2 Crash at Jeddah

The recently concluded Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was no easy race weekend for the entire F1 and F2 racing community. While many anticipated an awfully boring race around the streets of Jeddah, the reality turned out to be the antonym of boring.

There were numerous battles, most of which ended up in a rather ugly way. It was the George Russell-Nikita Mazepin incident in F1; Russell, having to avoid the pile-up in the front of him braked quite hard as Mazepin, who was then absolutely onto the throttle, slammed into the back of the Williams.

Thankfully, neither of the drivers were injured in the massive crash. However, a similar incident took place in F2 between Theo Pouchaire and Enzo Fittipaldi at the start of the Grand Prix. Only in this case, one of the drivers took a hefty blow and is currently in the hospital.

Fittipaldi provides the much-needed update

The entire motorsport community watched with their fingers crossed as the medical staff carried Fittipaldi to the ambulance. However, it was only when Fittipaldi gave a thumbs-up that the viewers heaved a sigh of relief.

Well, turns out, the Brazilian did not escape the crash unscathed, as the crash has indeed caused a lot of bruises and a broken bone. Fittipaldi took to Twitter to reveal his current medical condition and when he could return to racing again.

“Hey guys, I am very grateful that I only broke my heel and have some cuts and bruises. Thank you all for the messages, as well as the FIA and medical staff for taking great care of me. I am very happy that Theo is ok. I will be back on track soon and faster than ever,” he wrote.

Another anti-stall incident in F2

Anti-stall is starting to trigger quite the stir in Formula 2, with its occurrences being more frequent than ever. The latest victim was Theo Pouchaire. The Frenchman, driving the ART Grand Prix, found himself stalled on the grid at lights out.

Meanwhile, Charouz Racing driver, Fittipaldi, who was starting from almost the back of the grid absolutely plummeted into the back of Pouchaire’s car, leading to a huge pile-up right over the start-finish line. It was indeed a scary crash. Nevertheless, the good news is both the drivers are safe.

But, considering the recent history, is F2 likely to trigger more such start crashes due to anti-stalls?
