Meet ‘Bandit’: The World’s Fastest Golf Cart With a Top Speed Over 100MPH
We have often tried accelerating a golf cart, only to be disappointed when it’s average speed. Although not needed on the course, the existence of a faster one has definitely crossed our minds on more than one occasion. Well, to much surprise, a faster golf cart does, in fact, exist.
Plum Quick Motors made and tested a vehicle called ‘Bandit’ in 2014 in Darlington, Dragway, in Hartsville, S.C. It recorded a speed of a massive 118.76 miles per hour, thereby setting a Guinness world record for the fastest golf cart ever.

How the ‘Bandit’ created a world record
There are many rules and regulations that one needs to abide by when operating a golf cart on the course. Typically, a cart runs at a top speed of 14 to 19.9 miles per hour. However, Plum Quick Motors have beat this speed by a mile. Earlier, the team set a world record of 103.65 mph, and this time, they took it up a notch by increasing the number to 118.76. It bolted over a quarter-mile in just 12.24 seconds.
For better understanding, let’s take the following example- Usain Bolt, the fastest man on the planet, runs at a speed of 27.8 mph during the fastest leg of his race. Bryson DeChambeau, known for his distance and speed, has a ball speed of 190.94 mph. Putting this into perspective, this golf cart sounds more like a car than a cart!
Wondering how they did it? The entire procedure is very well explained here. From replacing the stock motor, to adding larger tyres, to finally upgrading the brakes, they did it all.
There is no going back from this, is there? Soon, we’ll be witnessing golf carts that are as fast as the cars out there. What are your thoughts about this invention?
