Phillip Schofield couldn’t help but share a very festive joke involving his former ITV co-star Piers Morgan, who quit his job on Good Morning Britain in dramatic style back in March.
The This Morning team were getting fully into the Christmas spirit on Tuesday’s edition whilst reading out some of their favourite cracker-style jokes.
But presenter Phillip wasn’t going to miss out on the opportunity to make a dig at Piers, whose name propped up in the festive offerings.
Joined by Gyles Brandreth and Vanessa Feltz, Holly Willoughby and Phil gave viewers some great inspiration for their cracker jokes as they discussed the day’s biggest news stories.
To round things off, Phillip said: ‘What’s Piers Morgan’s favourite Christmas joke? Walking Off On Air!’
The presenter giggled, while Vanessa Feltz was seen with her hands on her face.

Gyles offered his approval with a thumbs up before Holly asked: ‘Should we end on that one?’
‘I think we’ve peaked!’ she smiled.

Of course, those watching at home were loving the moment, dubbing it the ‘cracker joke of the year.’
One wrote on Twitter: ‘Christmas cracker joke – what’s piers Morgan @piersmorgan favourite Xmas song? Walking off on air. @thismorning @Schofe love it…lol.’
‘Christmas cracker joke of the year… What is Piers Morgan’s favourite Xmas song Multiple musical notes Walking off on air,’ said another.
Another commented: ‘What’s Piers Morgan’s favourite Christmas song? Walking off on air. That’s actually genius.’
Piers famously walked off the set of GMB back in March after getting into a heated discussion with co-star Alex Beresford.

The pair argued over Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, which came after she admitted to having struggles with her mental health in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Weatherman Alex brought up Piers’ gripes with ‘former friend’ Meghan, telling him: ‘She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to.
‘Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has but yet you continue to trash her.’
At this point, Piers said: ‘I’m done with this. Sorry. You can trash me, mate, but not on my own show,’ while walking offset. ‘See you later, can’t do this,’ he added.

Piers quit his position as news anchor after a huge amount of backlash but refused to apologise for his comments.
He will be back on-screen early in 2022 when he hosts a new flagship show on News UK’s network, TalkTV.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
