PHOTO: Gervonta Davis’ Injured Hand Balloons Up a Day After His Fight With Isaac Cruz
Gervonta Davis retained his WBA lightweight belt after a tough fight against Isaac Cruz, which lasted for all 12-rounds. ‘Pitbull’ snapped Davis’ 16-KO streak and dragged him to a full-length fight where both men had their moments of success. Despite offering more aggression, Davis saw a similar reception coming from his rival’s end.
‘Tank’ struggled to put down Cruz, who didn’t back off throughout the fight. While several people had envisioned seeing a highlight reel KO in Davis’ favor, it didn’t happen in reality.
Instead, several people believed post-fight that Isaac Cruz had done enough to win the title. Nevertheless, Davis appeared the better man in-ring and rightly claimed a unanimous decision.
Meanwhile, Davis had to pay the price outside the ring. He was spotted covering his left hand after the official result. His arm was already injured. Meanwhile, pictures of his left arm appeared on social media after that day. Davis’ left arm has ballooned up and seems in a very serious stage.

He will clearly need time to recover from this. As 2022 can stage some of the biggest matchups of the lightweight division, Gervonta Davis has an important role to play. He is the undefeated knockout artist of the unit. However, a below-average performance against Cruz has made him seem vulnerable. Unless he revives his Knockout-run, a portion of the audience will continue criticizing ‘Tank’.
That said, Davis may have failed to enter the ring at 100%. He still traded shots and deal with ‘Pitbull’. This clearly is applaudable, but Davis’ current situation can put him out of action for a brief period ahead.

His long-time trainer Calvin Ford disclosed the injury update in the post-fight presser, which Gervonta Davis confirmed. The WBA lightweight champion, however, didn’t justify it for not getting a knockout.
Davis said, “I think that it’s the first time it ever happened to me. You know, I feel like it’s not just one knuckle, but a couple of ‘em. My hand is shaking a little bit, but that’s [nothing.] It ain’t no big deal. I got the job done, so we’ll move on.” (H/T:- Boxing Scene)
Well, he has hinted at jumping weight classes once again after a successful stint at 135. So, we can expect him in several potential matchups. However, the lightweight division will continue offering him the best options, where ‘Tank’ can nourish his legacy to the fullest.
