Rihanna has given us another update ahead of the release of her new album, promising it will be coming ‘soon’.

Fans have been not-so-patiently waiting for her elusive ninth album, dubbed R9, ever since the release of Anti in 2016.

In that time, the 33-year-old has been seriously busy building up her empire with the launch of her Fenty Beauty brand, as well as a clothing line and Savage lingerie.

Despite joining the billionaire club with her ventures, there has only been one thing on everyone’s minds – where is that new music hiding?

In a video doing the rounds on Twitter, Rihanna was asked by a paparazzi if there’s anything on the way this week, and simply replied: ‘Soon, soon, soon’, before sashaying away.

While RiRi didn’t give us an exact date, or slip any song titles, we’ll take whatever information we can get at this point.

The Work singer previously insisted that her new album will be ‘worth the wait’ – but suggested that it won’t be what we’re expecting, as she teased a ‘completely different sound’.

‘You’re not gonna expect what you hear, just put that in your mind,’ she told PA.

‘Whatever you know of Rihanna’s not gonna be what you hear.

‘I’m really experimenting, and music is like fashion, you should be able to play, I should be able to wear whatever I want and I treat music the same way.

‘So, I’m having fun, and it’s going to be completely different.’

Addressing the constant speculation over when the finishing touches will be put on the record, Rihanna previously told Entertainment Tonight that the release will be ‘sooner’ than we think.

‘It’s probably going to be sooner than fans think but I’m just going to leave that alone because I’ve got enough stress and questions like, “R9, where’s the album?”,’ she added.

‘[The fans] don’t leave me alone. I haven’t neglected them, I still got you.

‘Music is still my baby. I am always working on music and when I am ready to put it out in the way that I feel fit, it’s gonna come out. And you’re not going to be disappointed when it happens. It’s going to be worth it.’
