Dan Walker will not be taking part in the upcoming Strictly Come Dancing tour due to work commitments following his exit from the series.

The BBC Breakfast presenter became the latest celebrity to be eliminated from the BBC competition with his partner Nadiya Bychkova after going head-to-head with AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington in the dreaded dance off.

Next month, a number of celebrity contestants and professional dancers will be travelling across the country to perform for fans.

Dan, however, has announced that he will be a no-show, although is looking forward to attending one of the events.

‘I can’t wait to take my family to watch the #Strictly tour this year but I sadly won’t be part of it,’ he wrote on Twitter.

‘I have too many work commitments and I want to be at home after spending so much longer on the actual show than I ever expected.

‘I’m sure it’ll be amazing – as usual.’

The Strictly Come Dancing live tour begins on January 22 in Birmingham and is expected to hit a number of UK cities including Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds.

The event is set to conclude at the O2 Arena in London with three dates at the epic venue from February 11.

Dan recently reflected on his time on Strictly during an interview on It Takes Two, saying he feels like a ‘completely different person’ with a changed mindset after going from someone who never danced to performing live to 10million viewers on a weekly basis.

‘I’ve loved every dance we’ve done and each week has been my favourite and I told Nadiya on the Monday when she showed me the choreography, I said “I already love it, I can’t wait to dance it on Saturday.”

‘And that was the best I’ve danced in my entire life, in front of 10 million people, and it’s a good way to go out.’

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 7.05pm on BBC One.
