Atalanta vs Villarreal POSTPONED due to snowstorm in Italy with pair to scrap it out for last-16 spot on Thursday

ATALANTA’S Champions League tie with Atalanta was called off due to a snowstorm – with the showdown for a last-16 place set back to Thursday.

The two sides went out on the snow-laden pitch to salute the fans but the fierce blizzard meant playing was impossible.

They are battling to finish runners-up to Manchester United in Group F.

And football chiefs intend to play the match 24 hours later.
