問題の解消には、しばらく時間がかかる見込みです。ご迷惑をおかけして申し訳ございませんが、復旧までもうしばらくお待ちください。

[Server Outage]
Nintendo uses Amazon Web Services to host Nintendo Switch Online, so they are being affected by the AWS outage in the Eastern US region (us-east-1).
The issue has been ongoing for around ~2 hours now, but Amazon says there is “some signs [of] recovery”. https://t.co/IWqDbwkp5v

This server outage is also affecting other Nintendo consoles services. As fans can’t access the eShops in Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, fans must be thinking that there’s something wrong with the Nintendo servers, but there’s nothing wrong with their servers. It seems like the server is down because of Amazon Web Services Technologies (AWS).

For the fans who are not aware of Amazon Web Services Technologies (AWS); it’s a division of the popular e-commerce giant Amazon. That provides online services like cloud computing platforms, servers and storage, and many more to other tech companies. And unfortunately, Nintendo also uses AWS for its server hosting.
More details about the server outages and problems that fans are facing in Nintendo games
Currently, all the fans are very frustrated about this server outage. Because they are facing connectivity issues in the Nintendo games. For example, fans won’t be able to visit other islands in the Animal Crossing game.
As they won’t be able to connect to the airport itself. And apart from Animal Crossing, fans are also facing these issues in other games like Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Super Smash Bros., and many more.
omg, I can’t play Super Metroid because the AWS outage brought down Nintendo’s online service. I guess this is why I have been investing in original retro hardware (and plan to get the MiSTer at some point). #NintendoSwitch #AWSOutage pic.twitter.com/kemoVmfHfa

Server outages are very common in the gaming industry, especially during the holiday or festive seasons. When the servers are overloaded with a lot of traffic. However, these outages don’t last for a very long time as the devs fix them within some time. But, this server outage is breaking records because it’s already been around 12 hours. 12 hours is a significant amount of time for any server outage, especially for a tech giant like AWS. And it seems like Amazon still didn’t resolve this issue yet. Know more about the server outage, here.
