Best Christmas movies to watch on Amazon Prime UK in 2021

Here’s what you can watch this Christmas on Amazon Prime (Picture: Amazon)

Christmas 2021 is drawing ever nearer, and as trees and lights go up around the country, there’s nothing better to get in the festive mood with than a classic Christmas movie.

In the run up to December 25, many are already turning to Christmas music – and keeping Mariah Carey’s coffers full in the process – to bring some much-needed cheer.

Whether you’re watching them with your loved ones or just on a cosy night in on your own, Amazon have a whole heap of festive treats for everyone to enjoy.

Whether it’s a classic you watch every year without fail (hello, Love Actually), or something you’ve never seen before, there’s enough to get you through the whole festive season.

Here are some of the best Christmas films to watch on Amazon Prime in 2021.

Love Actually

A classic – it wouldn’t be Christmas without Love Actually (Picture: Universal Pictures)

A classic for every Christmas, Love Actually is available to watch on Amazon Prime to really kick off the festive season.

Hugh Grant leads the cast as eight, interconnected couples deal with their love lives in the run up to Christmas in London.

While some parts of it may have aged better than others, it still remains a firm fan favourite nonetheless.

The Holiday

Jude Law and Cameron Diaz star in the festive classic which may or may not be a Christmas movie (Picture: Simon Mein)

Whether The Holiday is a Christmas movie or not is up for debate – if there’s anything that’ll get you feeling warm and cosy, it’s The Holiday.

Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet play two unlucky in love women who decide to swap homes and countries, each falling for a local lad – Jude Law in the UK and Jack Black in the US – in the process.

The Night Before

The Night Before is not your traditional Christmas movie (Picture: Sony Pictures)

If you’re not one for a mushy gushy romantic comedy, The Night Before is the perfect antidote to have you howling instead.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen and Anthony Mackie lead the cast of the 2015 stoner comedy as three childhood friends who meet up every year to find the best Christmas party in town.

Office Christmas Party

Most office parties don’t end with an actual riot (Picture: STORYTELLER DISTRIBUTION)

Jason Bateman and Olivia Munn star in Office Christmas Party, the 2016 comedy about a work do that goes quite spectacularly wrong.

While many people have some dodgy memories of office parties they’d rather forget, it’s not often the work shindig turns into an actual riot…

Bad Santa 2

Billy Bob Thornton reprised his role as Willie Soke (Picture: SANTAMAX DISTRIBUTION LL)

Set 13 years after the first film, Bad Santa 2 sees Billy Bob Thornton reprise his role as Willie Soke, who remains as depressed as ever after his happy ending didn’t pan out as planned, and he’s pnce again addicted to sex and alcohol.

He’s visited by Thurman ‘The Kid’ Merman who has turned 21 and with his dad having abandoned him and his grandfather dead, Willie is the closest thing he has to family.

Chaos ensues – of course – as well as some very risqué behaviour… so this is definitely one best not watched with the family.

Nativity, Nativity 2: Danger In The Manger and Nativity 3: Dude, Where’s My Donkey

The series of British Christmas films are all available on Amazon Prime and are perfect viewing with the whole family.

A teacher, who had ambitions of being an actor, producer or director, is tasked with running the school’s annual nativity play.

The productions get wilder every year – and with three of the four films (2018’s Nativity Rocks can also be rented for an additional fee) available for free on Amazon Prime, they’re perfect for a binge watch in one go.

Deck The Halls

A magical caper, the whole family will enjoy Deck The Halls (Picture: Ed Araquel)

Danny Devito, Matthew Broderick, Kristin Davis and Kristin Chenoweth lead the cast for Deck The Halls, which sees the local ‘Christmas guy’ fall into a rivalry with a new neighbour who wants to make his lights display so big it can be visible from space.

The pair’s rivalry sees them go to increasing lengths to mess with one another, making for a brilliant Christmas caper all ages will enjoy.

Christmas with the Kranks

The madness of the holidays is encapsulated in Christmas with the Kranks (Picture: Columbia Tri-Star)

A couple, played by Jamie Lee Curtis and Tim Allen, are not looking forward to the holidays without their daughter who has joined the peace corps, so plan to head on a Caribbean cruise to avoid their empty nest.

However, as well as upsetting their friends by boycotting the holidays, the pair’s plans are thrown into chaos when their daughter calls just as they are leaving for the airport to announce she’s coming home for Christmas with her new Peruvian fiancé.

The pair then have the task of decorating their home and putting on their usual Christmas party in less than 12 hours – but can they do it?
