BREAKING: Notable Prospect Muhammad Mokaev Gets His Dream Opponent for UFC Debut in March
21-year-old Muhammad Mokaev is booked to make his UFC debut on March 19 and he’s finally got the opponent he’s called out for. Mokaev is set to be the youngest fighter on the roster and his reputation for his penchant for violence and unblemished record precedes him. Mokaev is booked to face Cody Durden in his debut, a match he specifically called out for.
Chiefly, Cody Durden became infamous recently after his win over Chinese fighter Aori Qileng. After securing a unanimous victory, Durden made an insensitive comment during his post-fight interview that was aimed directly at his opponent.
“I knew he was gonna be tough, but I had to send him back to China where he came from,” Durden said. [h/t MMA Junkie]
Duden’s comments were met with a lot of backlash from fans and fellow fighters on social media. Across the board, no one seemed particularly impressed with Durden’s comments and Mokaev took to Twitter to express his displeasure.
I don’t like Cody Durden racist comment in his interview. Should I smash this guy for my UFC debut? @UFCEurope @ufc

‘The Punisher’ was keen to live up to his moniker and hand out some vigilante justice to Cody Durden for his questionable remark.

He will have to cut his teeth in the talent-stacked bantamweight division that is chalked full of killers. The top of the division still needs to be flushed out, giving Mokaev an opportunity to build his way to the top of the mountain. He’s earned four finishes in six fights and is inarguably one of the most comprehensive prospects in the game.
He has the opportunity to make an impact by securing a win over a highly unpopular figure in the sport currently in Cody Durden. Many fans want to see Durden get his comeuppance for the comments he made and Mokaev could be the man to deliver that. Given his resume thus far, there’s no reason why Mokaev shouldn’t open as the favorite.
