Christina Aguilera brought back her iconic look from her early noughties Dirrty era as she stunned at the People’s Choice Awards.

The singer, who recently celebrated her 40th birthday, nodded back to the old days on Tuesday night as she rocked up on the red carpet in a yellow and black bikini top and chaps.

Fans of the singer will recognise the look from the 2002 music video for Dirrty and the entire era surrounding it, where the then-21-year-old wore daring chaps on the regs.

While Christina, now 40, made some adjustments to her look last night, such as adding fishnets, sleeves and a corset-style top, the nod back to her iconic era was clear.

The Genie In A Bottle hitmaker looked incredible with her white-blonde hair tied up and flowing in loose waves down her body, and striking eye makeup highlighting her bright blue eyes.

Christina was attending the People’s Choice Awards in Santa Monica to pick up the coveted Music Icon Award, having been announced the winner before the ceremony.

In a speech following her acceptance of the award, which she called an ‘exceptional honour’, the visibly emotional pop icon spoke about her music and how she hoped it inspired people.

‘I have always strived for my music to communicate messages of empowerment, whether it’s speaking my own truths or giving voice to those unable to do so on their own,’ she told the audience.

‘My artistry has always been for the fighters in this world, for those who face adversity, for those wanting to evoke change, my music is for you.’

Christina said she had heard from fans about the huge impact her songs have had on them, from the powerful Beautiful to the raunchy hit Dirrty, and thanked them for their stories.

She finished by telling her fans that they inspire her every day, and urged everyone to believe in themselves.

The chart-topper recently signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation after parting ways with longtime manager Irving Azoff, with hopes she will release more music in the future.

Christina dropped her self-titled debut studio album in 1999, which spawned the hit singles Genie In A Bottle, What A Girl Wants and Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You).

Her most recent studio album, Liberation, was released in 2018, which included the songs Accelerate featuring Ty Dolla Sign and 2 Chainz, and the Demi Lovato duet Fall In Line.

Earlier this year, the pop star released an updated version of the Mulan soundtrack song Reflection for Disney’s live-action adaptation of the film, 22 years after she sang the song for the original animated version in 1998.
