“Mom & Dad I’m Becoming the Man Y’all Raised”: Aaron Jones Dedicates WPMOY Nomination to His Parents
The Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones has been nominated for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award this season. This award is given out by the NFL every year to the player who had an outstanding season on-field and does community service. Aaron Jones is a perfect candidate for the award this year.
Jones winning hearts on and off the field
Aaron Jones is a gifted athlete. Jones is known for giving back to the community. The son of a U.S. Army veteran always works with the veterans and the children of Green Bay and his hometown of El Paso, Texas.
“He exemplifies what it means to be devoted to both his team and his community. He is a great player and an even better person,” said the President and CEO of the Green Bay Packers Mark Murphy.
The Man of the Year award was established in 1970. The award was then later renamed after the legendary Chicago Bears running back Walter Payton in 1999. $40,000 will be given to all 32 nominated layers to donate to the charity of their choice. The winner of the award will get a sum of $250,000 to donate. If Jones will get any of those positions, we know what he will do with the money.
Aaron Jones thanks his parents
Jones lost his father in April of this year. Every day Aaron keeps his father in his heart. The way Alvin Sr Jones faced the enemies on the battlefields, Aaron Jones plays with that fearless mindset. Right after getting the news that he has been nominated for the Man of the Year award, the first thing Jones did was tweet. In the tweet, he thanked his parents, “This is truly a honor! Mom & Dad, I’m becoming the man y’all raised.” Jones always keeps his family and his community first.

“It means everything to me,” he said. “Me and my family have always been big on giving back to the community and different things like that. Just to be mentioned in the same sentence as some of these guys who are nominated or some of these guys who have won before is a huge honor.”
