Strictly Come Dancing fans have expressed their anger after judge Anton Du Beke appeared to ‘snub’ AJ Odudu as speculation heightens over who will be the contenders for the Glitterball Trophy.

On Wednesday’s edition of It Takes Two, Anton joined Janette Manrara for a virtual interview to discuss all things Strictly, sharing his views on the semifinalists.

After ending up in the dance-off last week, AJ will be back on the dancefloor with her professional partner Kai Widdrington as they prepare to take on two routines for the first time.

They’ll also be joined by John Whaite and Johannes Radebe, Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice and Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu as the couples try their best to make it to the grand finale.

During their discussion, Anton told Janette who he believes the strongest pairs are in terms of their consistency.

‘The most consistent couple through the whole competition I think has been John and Johannes, followed very closely by Rose and Giovanni. So it’s going to be an epic week,’ he said.

While Anton had previously predicted on the programme that AJ will be ‘fine’ on Saturday after her lift mishap with Kai during last week’s show, several It Takes Two viewers voiced their infuriation over the judge not mentioning them as another consistent pair.

‘I can’t cope with Anton saying John and Johannes and Rose and Giovanni are the most consistent dances, and not even mentioning Aj and Kai, ARE YOU JOKING,’ one person tweeted.

‘Most consistent dancer John and Johannes? I love them but Anton mate nobody’s been braver than AJ and Kai. I don’t know why it’s so hard for him to praise her,’ another remarked.

Someone else said that in their view, it ‘seems like favouritism’, while another wrote: ‘Agree that J+J have been the most consistent (and I do love them), but can’t help but feel this is because many of their dances have played it a bit safe choreographically.

‘If AJ and Kai were actually scored fairly they would also be as consistent!’

AJ and Kai have been the highest-scoring couple on three occasions during this year’s series, achieving a 39 in week seven, a 38 in week nine and a 37 in week six.

They currently hold the highest scores for the Waltz and the Jive, while having the joint highest score for the the Viennese Waltz with Rose and Giovanni.

It Takes Two returns tomorrow at 6.30pm on BBC Two with Strictly Come Dancing returning on Saturday at 7.05pm on BBC One.
