This Morning viewers were left in tears after a segment showing a mother who had donated her late son’s heart to save another child.

Anna-Louise Bates, who lost her husband Stuart and son six years ago when they were hit by a careless driver, made the decision to donate their organs to save others.

Her son Fraser’s heart was given to help a boy with a heart defect, and he and his mother were also on the show to explain how much that selfless act had changed their lives.

Zoe Pickering, whose son Roman was given Fraser’s heart, broke down in tears as she detailed the new chance at life the transplant had given him.

Anna-Louise also spoke about how much the donation had meant to her, and the similarities she has seen between Roman and her own son.

Zoe revealed: Anna sent me a picture of Fraser with a gorilla and when we met Anna for the first time Roman picked a gorilla to give to her.’

Anna-Louise added: ‘The moment I saw Roman, I could just see the character in his eyes. His heart and his character just seemed to epitomise the big heart that Fraser had.

‘Straight away he designed a football shirt to wear to meet me for the first time in honour of Fraser and that’s exactly what Fraser would have done.’

She revealed that she was very proud of her husband and son, adding: ‘To actually appreciate what the real meaning of Christmas is and it is the gift of life.
