Strictly Come Dancing 2021: AJ Odudu jokes Kai Widdrington romance rumours are leaving her DMs ‘dry’

Strictly Come Dancing’s AJ Odudu thinks the continued speculation over a potential romance with Kai Widdrington is putting off guys from sliding into her direct messages on social media.

Rumours the pair are secretly dating have continued to swirl in recent weeks, following a string of steamy routines which has seen the pair get up close and personal.

But as they gear up for tomorrow night’s semi-final, AJ has joked it’s completely ruined ‘potential suiters’ from getting in touch.

In a chat with The Sun, AJ said: ‘Oh my gosh, my direct messages are dry. I’ve not had one direct message from a potential suitor, that is not happening.’

The TV presenter went on to say she thinks her partnership with Kai is causing the lack of romantic interest.

She said: ‘[Any potential suiter] witnessed me wrap my legs around Kai every single week!’

Fans picked up on a very cute interaction between the pair earlier this series, when Kai whispered ‘I love you so much’ into AJ’s ear after their movie week routine.

The pair have been regularly quizzed on a possible partnership away from the dance floor after displaying sizzling chemistry throughout the competition.

But AJ previously appeared to deny anything was going on after the above dance, when quizzed by Zoe Ball on her Radio 2 Breakfast Show.

After their The Bodyguard-inspired routine, AJ laughed: ‘I was playing Rachel, he was playing Frank. They were in love!’

The pair have been hotly tipped to walk away with the Glitterball Trophy ever since week one, when they came out and smashed a high-energy Jive.

AJ and Kai have gone from strength to strength ever since, and the Don’t Rock The Boat presenter shared just how much it would mean for them to lift the trophy next weekend.

‘It would genuinely be everything,’ she gushed.

‘It would mean that the public have believed in me and it would mean so much for Kai as well.

’It’s his first year and I said at the very beginning, “I want to make your first year the year to remember, because I’m your first.”‘

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow at 7.05pm on BBC One.
