“Failed to Put Any Resistance”- Garry Kasparov Bashes Fellow Countryman After Loss to Magnus Carlsen
Magnus Carlsen set fire in Dubai, winning his 5th World Chess Championship title recently. The legendary player beat Russia’s Ian Nepomniachtchi, in what was meant to be a 14 game intense marathon. Now, recognizing Magnus’ excellence and Ian’s below-par performance, grandmaster Garry Kasparov has his say.
Former World Champion Garry Kasparov, recently took to Twitter, congratulating Magnus on yet another sensational win. However, making a brutally honest assessment, he also talked about his fellow Russian’s unsatisfactory display on the board.
No brownie points for Ian Nepomniachtchi
On Friday, Magnus Carlsen reigned supreme, beating Ian in the 11th game of the series. Even though the series started off with both players breathing down each other’s neck, Magnus eventually took the lead. Following 5 draws at the beginning, Magnus countered upon Ian’s blunders and extended his lead.
Addressing the same, Garry appreciates Magnus’ win but was far from happy with his fellow Russian’s outing. In his tweet, he said, “Congrats to Magnus for a dominant performance vs Nepomniachtchi, who failed to put up any resistance after the game 6 loss.”
Congrats to Magnus for a dominant performance vs Nepomniachtchi, who failed to put up any resistance after the game 6 loss. Carlsen rarely had to show his best here, but you cannot blame the shark if his opponent becomes a minnow! https://t.co/wuyHRExiUb

“Carlsen rarely had to show his best here, but you cannot blame the shark if his opponent becomes a minnow!” he added. Capitalizing on one too many blunders from Ian, the final score was 7.5-3.5. However, it will be unfair to not credit Magnus, who not only broke the deadlock but ended the 14 game series in the 11th game itself.
Magnus Carlsen and his brilliance
Magnus proved yet again why he is the most deserving holder of the GOAT title. Successfully defending his 4th title, Magnus was beyond satisfied with the result, while accepting that the result came rather unexpectedly. Speaking of his win, he said, “I didn’t expect it to go quite like this. I think it was just a very good professional performance overall. No regrets at all, just very satisfied.”

Notably, while fans remain astonished with his brilliance, his coach, Peter Heine Nielsen, revealed the truth behind it all. “Magnus is proud of saying that he’s probably the top player who works the least with the computer and is the least influenced by the computer,” he said.
As praises galore for Magnus, Ian faces the wrath of his shortcomings. Health competition nevertheless, do you think the grandmaster’s harsh criticism is justified?
