Nick Cannon has revealed he has had a beautiful tribute tattoo done in honour of his late son Zen after the baby died from a brain tumour.

The TV host, 41, had revealed the tragic news on his talk show, the Nick Cannon Show, earlier in the week and returned to share his new ink.

Showing the tattoo as part of his ‘pic of the day’ segment, Nick told viewers: ‘Last night I got the opportunity to actually go and get a tattoo of my son Zen as angel on my rib.

’I’m still all bandaged up and it hurts, right here, right now,’ revealing that the tattoo took around five and a half hours to complete.

He continued: ‘It was a lot of pain but it was so well worth it. I enjoyed every moment of the experience. To forever have my son, right here as my rib, right here at my side. That’s my angel.’

Nick then shared a video of the whole process, from choosing the design to having it transferred onto his skin and then tattooed on over a series of hours, before looking emotional as he checked out the finished design in a mirror.

He had shared the news that his five-month-old son had died earlier in the week, breaking down in tears describing Zen’s health battle and death.

Zen, whose mother was Alyssa Scott, 28, had undergone brain surgery to fit a stent after they’d initially thought his symptoms were down to sinus troubles.

Nick explained: ‘I always noticed he had a cough and so I wanted to check it out. He had this interesting breathing, and by the time he was two months old, I noticed he had a nice sized head, I call it a Cannon head.

‘We didn’t think anything about it, he had a normal Cannon head. But I really wanted to take him to the doctor to get the breathing and his sinus checked out. We thought it would be routine.’

Doctors then found that Zen had fluid building up inside his head which was down to a malignant tumour, with the baby immediately undergoing surgery.

Sadly, Zen’s condition worsened around Thanksgiving, with Nick heading back to spend ‘quality time’ with the little one until he died.

Zen was Nick’s seventh and youngest child, with him also having twins Monroe and Moroccan, 10, with Mariah Carey, son Golden, four, and daughter Powerful Queen, one, with Brittany Bell, twins Zillion and Zion who born in June with Abby de la Rosa.
