All Elite Wrestling commentator Taz was a proud man on Friday as his son Hook made his in-ring debut on AEW Rampage.

The Human Suplex Machine, who made his name in ECW before joining WWE and eventually becoming part of the SmackDown announce team alongside Michael Cole until his exit in 2009, had a very special moment as he was on commentary for his boy’s big night.

Hook looked great with the weight of the world on his shoulders, not just from his famous father but also the pressure of an expectant fanbase excited to see him in the ring.

However, he certainly impressed as he faced Fuego Del Sol in a great match highlighting his skills as a striker and submission artist.

He got time to shine here and made the most of that, eventually picking up the win with the Tazmission as a nice nod to his dad.

Responding to a clip of his boy making his entrance, Taz tweeted: ‘Sooooo proud.’

The crown even delivered a nice callback to Taz’s own career as they chanted ‘Hook is gonna kill you’, as the legendary star added: ‘That was wild to hear…it’s been YEARS for me that I haven’t heard that. Surreal. Lol (sic)’

Meanwhile, AEW boss Tony Kahn confirmed Hook has officially been signed by AEW following the bout.

He tweeted: ‘It’s official! Welcome to the team, @730hook and congratulations on your tremendous debut win tonight on #AEWRampage!’

Hook has addressed his debut, which saw him come out to Action Bronson’s track The Chairman’s Intent.

Reflecting on his first match, he told Pitchfork: ‘It was hard as f**k, honestly. It was tough, man. I was excited. I felt like I could run through a brick wall before going out there. Having Action Bronson for my debut in New York? It was surreal.’

He added: ‘With that and the New York vibe, I had a feeling that my dad would f**k with it as well. When I showed him, he loved it.’

*AEW Rampage airs Friday nights at 3am on Fite TV.
