Geri Horner beamed with pride and joy as her husband Christian and Max Verstappen won the Formula One World Championship.

The Spice Girls singer was more than happy to play cheerleader for Christian, who is the Red Bull team’s principal, and Verstappen who claimed victory against Lewis Hamilton

It was a particularly momentous occasion for Verstappen who won the title for the first time – but a devastating blow for Hamilton, who was on course to surpass Michael Schumacher’s record with an eighth title.

As Verstappen was crowned winner, Geri was seen right in the thick of the celebrations and planting a huge kiss on husband Christian.

She then joined him for an interview with Sky Sports and applauded the Red Bull team’s efforts, saying: ‘I’m just really proud of him, I’m proud of the whole team, Max. It’s testimony to what a great team they are, what a great strategy, Max is brilliant, Checo [Sergio Perez], and of course I think they’ve got the best team principal, I have to say.’

Heaping praise on her spouse, Geri said while giving him a warm hug: ‘Forgive me for being this honest but I have to say, Christian told me this has been the toughest year he’s ever experienced but they’re such a good team together.’

The Wannabe singer shared a carousel of photos of the winners to her Instagram page, including a selfie of her and Christian posing with Verstappen.

‘So proud of you @christianhorner @maxverstappen1 @redbullracing @schecoperez ❤️,’ she captioned the post.

Geri had earlier shared a video wishing the Red Bull team good luck stating ‘because they deserve it’.

The singer may be elated with the result but other celebrities commiserated with Hamilton.

Piers Morgan tweeted in shock: ‘OMG… I don’t know what I’ve just watched but it can’t be right. Hamilton’s been robbed, surely? #F1.’

However, graciously congratulating Verstappen, he added: ‘As for this guy, he’s an absolute nut-job but what a brilliant racing driver.

‘Whatever your thoughts on what happened, that final lap manoeuvre was just sensational. Congrats @Max33Verstappen – a worthy champion in the greatest ever F1 season.’

Match of the Day host Gary Lineker weighed in: ‘What a joke. That stinks.’

He continued: ‘Wonderfully generous and dignified reaction from @LewisHamilton. He really is very special,  on the track, and off it. Class act to the end.

‘Congratulations to @Max33Verstappen on his first world championship. He’s not to blame for the decisions. He’s an absolutely superb driver and gave us the most incredible season.’
