The MMA world just witnessed the biggest upset in the history of the UFC at UFC 269. Julianna Pena, the underdog, defeated the undisputed UFC bantamweight champion of the world, Amanda Nunes, to get her hands on the bantamweight gold.
This momentous feat from the challenger shocked the world. Meanwhile, the most entertaining expressions came just beside the Octagon from the commentary booth.

The UFC PPV commentary trio of Daniel Cormier, Joe Rogan, and Jon Anik were shell-shocked by what happened in front of them at the T-Mobile Arena.
A surprised Daniel Cormier couldn’t believe what happened in front of his eyes and held on to Joe Rogan the entire time. Meanwhile, a flabbergasted Rogan turned to Cormier and looked at his colleague in utter disbelief. While Jon Anik continued to describe what was happening inside as Amanda Nunes tapped out. In conclusion, Nunes’ submission to Pena’s rear-naked choke dismayed the entire arena as fans could not believe the spectacle.
Julianna Pena defeats Amanda Nunes at UFC 269
Julianna Pena just proved to the world that she’s not just words. The challenger had waited five years to live this moment. As she entered the Octagon opposite ‘The Lioness’ with a shot at the UFC women’s bantamweight championship.
Chiefly, the opening round saw Nunes dominating Pena with her signature strikes. Nunes was even successful in tackling her opponent down the mat multiple times. Fans believed that Nunes was going for the finish in the opener itself. But Pena stood her ground absorbing a flurry of punches until five minutes.
After ending the first round bruised and beaten, ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ made a stunning comeback against ‘The Lioness’ in the 2nd round. She continuously made contact with Nunes’ face and landed jabs that stunned the champion. Disheartened fans watched the fight as they saw Nunes defenselessly taking blows from Pena. She also ate strong shots from ‘The Lioness’.
As the round progressed, Pena landed decisive blows on Nunes and downed her opponent later in the round, successively putting Nunes’ in a rear-naked choke to claim the win.
By defeating Nunes in her eighth title defense, Pena snapped the former double champion’s 12 fight-win streak. This is the first time since 2014 that ‘The Lioness’ has suffered a loss inside the Octagon.
