“I Never Quit in Any Fight”- Cris Cyborg Takes a Dig at Amanda Nunes After She Called for a Rematch
Former UFC women’s champion Cris Cyborg took to Twitter to take a dig at her former foe, Amanda Nunes. After, her loss to Julianna Pena at UFC 269 Nunes in her post-fight interview didn’t call for an immediate rematch. The former champ also opted out of doing her post-fight media interviews, so the narrative continued that Nunes might not want to run it back.
To add to that, after watching the fight, many expert analysts were of the opinion that the ‘lioness’ quit on herself after she got rocked. This goes in accordance with what happened in the fight after Pena had stunned the champ and taken her down. The Brazilian was quick to tap after Julianna’s submission attempt, even though it wasn’t locked in completely. One such proponent of that narrative was Chael Sonnen. Who said on his show that Nunes quit.

Nunes posted a statement on Instagram responding to all the doubt and criticism surrounding the fight of the rematch. In her post, she said, “You guys think I’m gonna go out unbalanced. I undoubtedly accept the rematch. Give me a little time to get my s**t together and I will be back better than ever.”
Cris Cyborg, a former opponent of Nunes, chimed in on the discussion. Responding to Nunes’ post, she said, “I never quit in any fight I’ve ever been in and then asked for a rematch. @Chael Sonnen.” Cyborg and Nunes have already faced each other once before when Nunes moved up to challenge for a second belt. The ‘lioness’ won that match, knocking out Cyborg, 51 seconds into the first round.

Will Cris Cyborg coming back to the UFC to rematch Amanda Nunes
After losing her title to Nunes, Cyborg fought the last fight on her contract with Felicia Spencer. Cyborg won that fight via unanimous decision. After the fight, Dana White and the UFC announced that they will not be negotiating to sign a new contract with her. White also waved her three-month exclusive negotiating period clause.

This meant that Cyborg could begin negotiations with other organizations immediately. Cyborg then signed a multi-fight deal with Bellator MMA promotions. After Pena won the bout against Nunes, Cyborg posted a post on Twitter that implied she wants to talk to White.
It is possible that fans might see Cyborg in the octagon again, however, given the doping allegations surrounding the former champ, it is also likely that those negotiations never happen. What do you think? Will Cyborg fight in the UFC again? let us know in the comments.
