Stephen Curry on Missing the Three-Point Record Again: “It’ll Happen When It Happens… It’s Been a Long Time Coming”

The Golden State Warriors had a tricky win tonight after losing to the Philadelphia 76ers in their previous game. All eyes were on Stephen Curry, as the sharpshooter was just seven triples away from earning his rightful place in history. But unfortunately, he fell short once again.

The Indiana Pacers came off an outstanding week prior to this. They went undefeated through the week and have some real momentum going for them. Led by big man Domantas Sabonis, the Pacers have looked like a really good team. He even won the Eastern Conference player of the week award. Hence, it was clear it was going to be tough for Steph to break through against this team as well.

Likewise, the Pacers denied the Baby Face Assassin his record night. And Curry had a few words to say about it.

Stephen Curry to wait another game

Similar to the last game, Curry did not have a great night from the field. While he led the Warriors in points, Steph shot poorly and struggled to get it going. He scored 26 points on 40% shooting from the field. Coming to the three point record, he closed in the gap to Ray Allen. However, he couldn’t get the job done in this game. Curry now stands just two threes away from becoming the all-time leader. But that did not stop him from bringing the game into the Warriors’ favor late in the game.

After the game, Curry spoke about not reaching the threshold tonight. He said: “I’m just blessed man. I know how much works gone into this. Like I said, it’ll happen when it happens but just happy to play the game that I love, play it at a high level. You know, respect all the great shooters that have come through the league, yourself included. And you know, just enjoy the moment. It’s been a long time coming.”

Apart from Curry, every Warrior stepped up in their own way tonight. Looney put up 14 points and eight rebounds, including the game sealing shot. Wiggins and Green combined for 30 points as the Warriors struggled to get things going from downtown.
