Who is NFL pro Phillip Adams and how did he die?

Phillip Adams, 32, was a cornerback for the San Francisco 49ers.

He also played for the New England Patriots, Oakland Raiders, Seattle Seahawks, and New York Jets.

Adams got his start in the NFL after getting drafted in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

The athlete attended South Carolina University and also played football while there.

Adams killed himself on Thursday, April 8, 2021 with a .45 caliber weapon after murdering prominent South Carolina Doctor Robert Lesslie, his wife Barbara, their two grandkids, and James Lewis, a house worker.

Authorities announced a sixth person died following the shooting. The person was identified as Robert Shook, 38, an air conditioning technician who was working with Lewis at the doctor’s home at the time of the shooting.

After a months-long investigation, Dr Ann McKee said that Adams’ CTE was similar to that of Aaron Hernandez’s – a former tight end who was convicted for the murder of Odin Lloyd.

The doctor went on to say that she does not believe Adams “snapped” and explained the issues that the football player had.

“He was getting increasingly paranoid, he was having increasing difficulty with his memories and he was very likely having more and more compulsive behaviours,” McKee said.

An anonymous source told the Associated Press that “Adams’ parents live near the doctor’s home in Rock Hill, and that he had been treated by the doctor.”

His dad, Alonzo Adams, told WCNC “he’s a good kid, I think the football messed him up.”

“I don’t think he ever did anybody any harm,” he added, before saying that the doctor used to treat him “a long time ago.”

York County Sheriff spokesman Trent Faris said the suspect “lives on the same road” and according to a tweet, he was found “in a nearby house.”

The sheriff’s office said: “There is no active threat to the community. Detectives are still in the area serving a search warrant & investigating this tragic event.
