The potential destinations for Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons are only increasing. After the youngster made his decision not to continue with his franchise, he has been warming the bench. Currently, the Sixers sit just within the top-8, with Joel Embiid pretty much carrying the side. Looking to offload Simmons now, Philly has been facing a dilemma. After a torrid time with Philadelphia last year, Ben Simmons opted out of playing for the franchise. Due to apparent standoffs with coach Doc Rivers as well as Joel Embiid, he has been on the sidelines and received hefty fines. In addition, the 25-year-old revealed that he has been battling some issues on the mental side. Finally, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel for Ben. After recent updates involving the Lakers and Spurs, Zion Williamson’s Pelicans are the latest entrants.

Reports: Zion Williamson’s Pelicans interested in Ben Simmons

Owing to fitness concerns, young Zion has missed the season thus far for New Orleans. A proven match winner last year, he has left fans disappointed in 2021-22. Meanwhile, numerous reports emerged that the struggling Los Angeles Lakers are interested in signing Simmons. However, desperately in need of an experienced guard, the Pelicans have reportedly shown interest in adding Simmons to their setup. And this will surely please the injured Zion who is waiting to return as soon as possible.

“I heard the Pelicans discussed trading future first-round picks and pick swaps with the 76ers for Ben Simmons, league sources told HoopsHype. Brandon Ingram was not involved in the talks, I’m told, at least as of now.”

If the former All-Defensive Team Member joins the Pelicans, he will form a deadly guard-forward duo with Zion. Both very young, it can be the perfect long term solution for the side that is sitting in last position. According to the trustworthy Michael Scotto, Brandon Ingram hasn’t been involved in trade talks yet; rather, the franchise considers giving up their first round picks in the future. But as of now, Ingram will stay at New Orleans.

If the Pelicans are to turn their season around, they will need a total rebuild. While Simmons could be the x-factor, it will take an all-round effort to pull back. Can the Zion-Simmons pairing work their magic for the miserly setup? Let’s wait and watch.
