Agony for England as Joss Buttler drops Marnus Labuschagne on 95 in disastrous start to second Ashes Test

JOS BUTTLER dropped the in-form Marnus Labuschagne on 95 as England struggled on day one of the second Ashes Test.

The England wicketkeeper spilled a regulation chance off the bowling of Jimmy Anderson under the Adelaide lights having earlier snagged a wonder-catch to remove Marcus Harris.

Earlier, Ben Stokes sent David Warner trudging back to the dressing room on the same score – thwarting the Aussie opener’s century chances for the second match in a row.

But Australia ended play on top as England toiled in the field on day one of the second Ashes Test.

The tourists managed just two wickets as Australia closed on 221-2 on the first day of the day/night clash in Adelaide.

Stuart Broad sent Harris packing early on when he was caught behind by a flying Buttler.

But a stoic stand between Warner and the in-form Marnus Labuschagne took Australia to 176 before night started to set in.

Warner fell for 94 in the first Test in Brisbane and was out for just one more in Adelaide.

He clobbered a short one from Stokes straight into the hands of Broad, who tumbled backwards as he clung onto the pink ball.
