An accidental kiss with my friend broke up my relationship

DEAR DEIDRE: A PECK on the lips broke up my relationship.

No issue is too small, too large or too embarrassing. Read our personal replies here.

I’m 32 and she’s 29.

Then she said goodbye and gave me a peck on the lips.

It all happened so fast that I didn’t have time to react and move my head away.

How can I sort this out? I did nothing wrong.

DEIDRE SAYS: It does sound like your girlfriend has misread this situation and overreacted to an innocent, if clumsy, gesture.

This suggests she’s insecure and jealous, which may stem from something that happened in the past.

Try talking to her calmly and explain again that this kiss took you by surprise.

Reassure her that it’s her you love and you have no interest in this woman.
