Smart-casual is your perfect post-Christmas combo, says Jane Moore

“SMART casual” may sound like a contradiction but this outfit fits the description perfectly.

It’s glamorous and comfortable – the perfect combo for that post-Christmas, pre-New Year period when you still want to make an effort but the waistband might need a little extra give after all that festive fare.

The faux velvet top has a flattering, ruched neckline and on-trend balloon sleeve, and I adore the yellow gold colour.

You could wear it with jeans but I have teamed it with a pair of chic, blue satin trousers with a flared leg and cheeky side split for that extra bit of glam.

And as I’m going for comfort too, these dressy flats with the gold chain detail are perfect for day, night, or both.
