Carlos Correa Replies to Chicago Cubs Fans Special Request

Since the teams are restricted from making any moves, courtesy of the lockout, the fans have begun pitching and negotiating instead. Free agency’s top shortstop Carlos Correa is on the radar of many teams, including that of the Chicago Cubs.

Notably, the Cubs fans have taken to social media, sharing their plea to sign Carlos. Quite remarkably, they even made a special song request to Carlos, a gesture he couldn’t oversee.

Carlos Correa sends a positive message to Cubs fans

The Carlos Correa bidding war has been a worthwhile battle; every big franchise, from New York Yankees to Houston Astros, have been linked to him in the offseason. Undeniably, given his heroics in 2021, even fans of multiple franchises wish to have the shortstop on their side. However, the Cubs went above and beyond, directly making requests to Carlos.

The Cubs fans morphed the famous Christmas Carol, ‘Gloria in Excelsis Deo,’ singing, “Come play in Chicago, Correa.” Although players are restricted from transfer talk, Carlos couldn’t help but reply to the fans’ gesture.

Replying to their festive request, Carlos tweeted, ”Happy Holidays to you all .”

While it might not be much to draw to any conclusions, Carlos, taking notice of their efforts, would surely get their hopes up.

Carlos and his interest in the Cubs

Before the lockout, there were reports claiming Cubs’ interest in making an offer to Carlos Correa. Moreover, it was not only the Cubs who were curious about him, as Carlos also researched about the team on his end. Apparently, Carlos got in touch with former Cubs shortstop Javy Báez, taking notes of his experience playing in Chicago.
Speaking of his future, Carlos is aiming for a deal worth $300 million and more. Hence, according to reports, he also rejected a $275 million deal by Tigers.
